Charles “Charlie” W. Dixon currently serves as Safety and Workforce Training Administrator for the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP). Mr. Dixon began working with OOGEEP in 1999, and helped create the first specialized oilfield emergency response training program in the United States. Mr. Dixon has been the lead fire instructor for these training programs since its inception, and joined the OOGEEP staff full time in January 2012.
Mr. Dixon began working in the Ohio “Oil Patch” in the mid 1970’s as a tool dresser and driller for L.B.J. Drilling, contract pumper, service rig operator for Valley Petroleum and JADOIL. Along with working in the oilfield, Mr. Dixon had served as a volunteer firefighter / EMT with Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Dixon has more than thirty-five years combined service in the oil and gas industry, firefighting, EMS education and emergency response.
As the OOGEEP Safety and Workforce Training Administrator Mr. Dixon is working with Rhonda Reda Executive Director of OOGEEP, OOGEEP Board members and other leaders within the oil and gas industry, state and local officials, colleges and career and technical schools to provide and develop and high quality training and education and enhance safety for the existing and future workforce. Mr. Dixon is an International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) certified instructor, and has helped organized specialized training for Ohio’s oil and gas industry.
In 1987, Mr. Dixon became a fulltime firefighter / emergency medical services provider with the Granville Volunteer Fire Department Inc. Mr. Dixon served as a Lieutenant, Captain and EMS Coordinator for the Granville Volunteer Fire Department until leaving active duty firefighting in 2002 to continue his passion as a Firefighting / EMS Educator. Mr. Dixon has served as a Public Safety Services Coordinator for the Licking County Joint Vocational School in Newark, Ohio, Fire Training Supervisor of Ohio certified programs at the Ohio Fire Academy Division of State Fire Marshal, and EMS Educator with the City of Columbus Division of Fire. Mr. Dixon is active with the Ohio Society of Fire Service Instructors and the International Society of Fire Service Instructors.

About the Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council
The Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council is a program of the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce, co-sponsored by The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene.
Purpose
It takes concern and dedication to instill an awareness of worker safety. The MOV Safety Council strives to provide increased safety awareness through the combined efforts of companies and the community at large.
Safety Council Goals
- To provide a forum for businesses and industries interested in occupational safety and health.
- To examine and resolve potential and existing safety and health problems.
- To Inform participants of new safety and health techniques, products and services and to provide a thorough knowledge of these services.
- To encourage safety programs through a Safety Campaign.
Membership to Safety Council is open to representatives of business and industry in the Mid-Ohio Valley interested in developing increased safety awareness. The annual membership fee is $50 per company.
Luncheons are held with presentations on a wide variety of safety subjects as requested by the membership. Safety Council meets monthly, usually on the third Wednesday of each month.

MOVSC Meetings are held at the Marietta Shrine Club on the Third Wednesday of each month. The Marietta Shrine Club is located at 249 Pennsylvania Avenue, Marietta, OH.
